    Oh I can relate to Maria Peacock! I’m probably missing the point entirely but … I’d also add another character/factor – management that doesn’t encourage or support professional development, constantly under staffs, provides minimal or no budget for programs (so you end up paying for things yourself), creates pedantic rules that aren’t customer focused etc etc ….. no creativity, no fun, the job is narrowed to basically just returning and issuing books and ensuring you don’t break the rules (like don’t spend too long talking to people in the library). it’s killing it for me.
